Going for the Goal

On their way to setting a new School record for scoring, The girls varsity soccer team has won 11 games in 12 tries this season. This breakthrough can be credited, in part, to Rachel Wiggins, sophomore, who has scored 25 goals in nine and a half games. She was injured in one game and could not play the second half. Wiggins and her teammates have seven more games in which to try to crush the old scoring record of 32 goals.
The first defeat of the season was suffered on April 10 at the feet of 5A opponent North Cobb. Asked about the loss, Girls Varsity Soccer Coach Steve Hall said, "Playing schools five times the size of Darlington presents obvious 'David and Goliath' scenarios. We will learn from the loss and use our slingshots better next time."
