The Darlington football and lacrosse teams have been involved in a very rigorous off-season, conditioning program. Each student who is not involved in a winter sport or activity has participated. “Both teams have grown closer by going through a difficult program that requires teamwork and motivation,” Glenn Getchell, physical education department chair, said. “The core exercises that the athletes perform are pretty difficult including the power clean, bench press, squat, plyometrics, and agility.”

Lacrosse season has now begun and there is no doubt that the students who competed last season should see improvements because of their hard work and dedication during the past five weeks. As for the football players, they have many months before the start of summer conditioning. “This has been the best start of off-season conditioning for the football team in number of years. We all know that athletic contests are won in the off season, and if the football and lacrosse teams efforts in this off season are any indication of future success, they will each be successful,” Getchell said.
