Get to Know: Molly Jordan

Playful, entertaining, and absolutely informative, our Get to Know series allows the personalities of the faculty and staff who make up the Darlington Community to shine.

If you walk into Molly Jordan's second-grade classroom on any given day, you're likely to notice a very active environment. The desks are clustered at different heights, giving students the option of learning while standing or sitting. She fosters a collaborative and fun learning experience, both for her students and fellow faculty members. Molly holds a B.A. in Communication from Auburn University, an M.Ed. from Jacksonville State University, and an Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.

How long have you worked at Darlington?
One year; this is my second.

Where did you grow up?
Cedartown, Ga.

Tell us a little about your family…
Married to Jason, children Caroline (‘25); Neelley (‘29); and a future Tiger, Stuart (3.5)

Why did you choose Darlington?
I choose Darlington because I believe in our approach to education - teaching the whole child, developing them as leaders, athletes, musicians, artists.

Your six word philosophy on education is…
Mistakes are proof you are trying.

What makes a good teacher?
Someone that is relentless in helping a child and that makes learning come alive.

What music is playing in your car?
It depends upon my mood....Bon Jovi, Thomas Rhett, Reba, Garth Brooks, Justin Timberlake

What’s your favorite podcast?
"The Big Boo Cast" (Sophie Hudson and Melanie Shankle); "Mom Struggling Well"

Who was your favorite teacher (and why)?
My fourth-grade teacher, Mrs. Morris, made me believe I could do anything!

My favorite movie is…
I have a few... “Mr. Holland's Opus,” “Breakfast Club” and “Father of the Bride.”

What makes a good student?
A good student is respectful, gives their all to everything and everyone, and is willing to try new things.

My favorite trip was…
I once took a road trip to Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico.

If I could travel anywhere it would be…
Italy
