Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program: It's Not Too Late!
By DeLean Brandon - FF/S
I would like to share with you a letter that a parent sent to me about the impact the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program has had on her child's educational experience:
To those of you that contribute to the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, I want to thank you. I am grateful for the opportunity that GOAL has given my child. Not only is he receiving a wonderful education, but Darlington is also providing him with the life skills necessary to be successful. Leadership, responsibility, self-discipline and community service are just a few of the qualities that Darlington is instilling in him.
I understand that many people are experiencing financial challenges. My husband and I are casualties of this economic downfall. Without the support of the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, we could not afford to send our child to Darlington. In the short amount of time that my son has attended Darlington, I have seen him prosper and excel. Darlington means so very much to me and my family.
If you haven’t already heard about the Georgia GOAL Scholarship program, it works like this. Georgia residents or anyone who pays state taxes in this state can redirect their Georgia state tax dollars to help fund tuition assistance for students entering a participating independent school. The donation to GOAL qualifies for a charitable tax deduction on your federal tax return and will also generate a tax credit on your Georgia tax return. It’s a win-win!
And lucky for you, it’s not too late to participate! The Department of Revenue is continuing to accept applications through the end of the month, so please contact DeLean Brandon now for more information. The process is easy and the impact immeasurable.
