Garret Fricks: What RUMPUS Means to Me

RUMPUS is the most unique event that Darlington has to offer, and it is the greatest opportunity for students to get involved.
RUMPUS is said to be the greatest weekend of the school year, and it is true. There is no other time and no other place where 500 students come together and compete with one another while wearing ridiculous outfits. The display of ridiculousness provides a level of comfort for those who are still transitioning into student life, as they realize that, at Darlington, they are free to be themselves.
Preparation for RUMPUS is one of the most stressful times a prefect will ever encounter, especially if you are as competitive as Jordan Lee and I are. As prefects, we are required to get day students involved, design events, and of course create a winning team. Although it may be stressful, it is worth it. You look around and see over 100 day students interacting with the dorm students, and they are enjoying each other’s company.
Even if you don’t win, you know you have done your job when you see that you have successfully bridged the gap between day and dorm students, and as a prefect you couldn’t ask for more.
