Fuller named February Student of the Month

Senior Mary Blair Fuller has been named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for February. 

A day student who has been enrolled at Darlington since pre-K, Fuller has taken 10 Honors and AP classes and is a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team. She also serves as head lifeguard at Coosa Country Club and has volunteered with Darlington's Used Uniform Sale and the Tri-ESP triathlon to support Extra Special People Inc. 

"Mary Blair is one of the most collegial students I have had the pleasure of working with," said Thatcher Chair of English John Cox, her college  advisor. "She is consistently pleasant in her dealings with others and always willing to join in the day’s activities. Over the years I have worked with her, it has been gratifying to see her grow in so many ways while still maintaining her core self. Her maturity has brought a depth to her insights, but she has maintained the youthful enthusiasm she brought to class as a freshman."   

As a freshman, Fuller received the Darlington Parents Association Class Citizenship Award. 

"Mary Blair has worked hard both on and off of the field," said English teacher Mallory Collier, her lacrosse coach. "She chooses to stay positive and help other players learn and stay upbeat in difficult challenges. I am very proud of her for this accomplishment and she is very deserving of this recognition!"

The daughter of Mary Kate (Vick '84) and Greg Fuller of Rome, Mary Blair will be honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Feb. 13.
