On Wednesday, you will receive your child’s interim progress report, with the exception of pre-K. Since we are now on a semester system, there will be an interim progress report and a progress report each semester. For the past two years, the faculty has been working on developing skills that reflect state and national standards for these subject areas including literacy (reading, writing and grammar), math, science and social studies.
As you meet with your child’s teacher this week, he or she will walk you through the interim progress report. The report also includes the effort and social work habits that your child demonstrated during the first eight weeks of school. Teachers will discuss the specific standards and skills mastered and show the assessments used to accomplish these skill sets. STAR Reading and Math Assessments will continue to be used as a means to support student progress. These assessments are given at the end of each semester as a check and balance to ensure that grade-level goals are being met. Children in pre-K through second grade also take the Children’s Progress Assessment three times per year (fall, winter and spring).
