From the Desk of the Lower School Director - 4

Thank you so much for the great turnout for Back to School Night. We had nearly perfect attendance with 123 families from the Lower School. Parents who were unable to attend are encouraged to contact the classroom teacher with any questions they might have.

I hope that every family will make an effort to get involved with our school through the special events planned this year by Tiger Pride. It’s not too late to help your child’s classroom teacher through the Helping Hands program, which supports them by completing tasks for them during the school day. Some of the things that teachers need help with are running copies, cutting letters, putting together booklets and collating, to name a few. Baskets with assignments are in the teachers’ lounge and the instructions are simple to follow. Children are proud when their parents are on campus and helping with various classroom projects and Tiger Pride events. Your support and commitment set an excellent example for the children. 

Our first Late Start Day will take place Wednesday, Sept. 1. Teachers will report at 7 a.m. for an all-school meeting on the main campus. These meetings take place the first Wednesday of each month. All of the other Wednesday meetings for the rest of the month will be on the Lower School campus. Parent volunteers have been assigned to help with supervision starting at 7:30 a.m. Parents will also be helping with carpool duty at the Primary Circle starting at 7:30 a.m. Mr. Daniels will assist at the Thornwood drop-off. Safety patrol children will also be available to assist with drop-off at both locations. Please remember that there is no Dar Trek on Late Start Days. Children will report directly to their classrooms starting at 7:30 a.m. We thank you for your cooperation.

Parents are encouraged to communicate with the classroom teacher on a regular basis if there are questions or concerns that you have. Often, a simple note, e-mail or phone message can work wonders. Research has proven over the years that when parents, teachers and students work together it is a win-win experience for all.

I hope to see all of our families at the Pigskin Picnic this Friday, Sept. 3, at 6 p.m. It will be followed by the home football game at  7:30 p.m. against Cartersville.
