Congratulations to the fourth-grade students who are participating in the upcoming Independent School Science Fair at Berry Elementary on Thursday: Travis Black, Spencer Herring, Gibson Hicks, Maggie Inman and Rhett McDurmon. Special thanks to Rebekah Kinney for her hard work and guidance in directing the students with their projects this year.
You may have heard from your children about Rachel’s Challenge, a movement sponsored by 11Alive News to spread kindness and compassion as far as it will go. Rachel Scott was one of the victims at Columbine High School in April 1999. Her acts of kindness and compassion coupled with the contents of her six diaries have become the foundation for one of the most life-changing school programs in America. Jill Pate is working with our classroom teachers to add to the chain. Each class has been assigned a color. The event will culminate on Nov. 11 at the Georgia Dome. All three divisions will be participating.
Please note the Preliminary List of Major Events for 2011-12 was updated this week. This list can be found here. Please note that the 2012 graduation date is Saturday, May 19. Also, Good Friday in 2012 will be a non-school day.
