Welcome back and Happy Spring!
Donuts for Dads is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, at 7:45 a.m. Please come to the gym first for refreshments. Dads will then proceed to the classrooms to visit with teachers and see what your children are learning. With the expected rain, Little Tiger Field may not be available for overflow parking. Please plan on parking at the VFW Post adjacent to the school. For new families, this is a special morning for dads to spend some time with their children at school. If any dad will be out of town, a family member or friend is welcome to attend.
Congratulations to our fourth-grade students for the wonderful science fair held before spring break.
Grand/Special Day is coming up! Please mark your calendar for this event on Friday, April 15, at 8:30 a.m. Our spring concert will take place the same day at 9:30 a.m. in the gym. The theme for the concert is “Anything and Everything Disney.” Please let the classroom teachers know by April 8 how many grandparents will be attending from your family.
Classrooms are filling up, so please submit your contracts if you haven’t already done so. At the Middle School, seventh grade is already full and we are anticipating wait pools in other grades as well. At the Lower School, we have visited with many prospective families this month thanks to your referrals. If you have any questions regarding re-enrollment, please do not hesitate to contact me or Lea Duncan.
I hope to see everyone this Friday evening, April 1, for Light the Lake from 5 to 10 p.m. on the main campus. Proceeds from this event will benefit Cancer Navigators.
An Easter Camp will be held this Saturday, April 2, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are two age groups for the camp – ages 2 to 6 and ages 7 to 12. Please e-mail Wendy Payne at wpayne@darlingtonschool.org if your child will be attending.
Summer camp brochures are now available in the front office or online. Lola Schaefer, children’s author, is offering a summer workshop for students in grades 1-5 from June 13-16. There will be two sessions based on grade level: 8:30 a.m. to noon for grades 1-3 and 1:30 to 5 p.m. for grades 4 and 5. Registration is available online.
