From the Desk of the Lower School Director - 27
By Steve Bartholomew - FF/S
We are so proud of our third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students who participated in the Independent Elementary School Spelling Bee held at St. Mary’s School this past Thursday. Fifty-seven students competed from five area schools.
The competition was fierce, but our students stayed competitive to the very end! The first place winner was Andy Brunt, fourth grade, who was able to spell “hermetically” and “apocalyptic” to beat Parker Helms from Excel Christian School in Cartersville. Bailey Kozlowski, fourth grade, placed a strong third.
Re-enrollment contracts are due back. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance. If you are not planning to return next year, please contact Lea Duncan as soon as possible.
The Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program is looking for families to participate for the 2011 tax year. You are able to redirect your state tax dollars to Darlington School. This is a win-win situation for both the donor and the recipient school. Please contact DeLean Brandon today to find out how you can participate. She can be reached by e-mail at dbrandon@darlingtonschool.org.
Grades 1-4 will be taking ERBs online this year. The dates are as follows: grade 2 – April 11-14; grade 3 – April 18-21; grade 1 – April 26-29; and grade 4 – May 2-5. All tests will be completed in the school’s Computer Lab under the supervision of Patricia Ayer and the classroom teacher. Each grade will receive test results approximately one week after the testing dates.
Interim progress reports for the second semester will go home tomorrow, March 9. Parents will be contacted if a conference is required.
