From the Desk of the Lower School Director - 24

Thank you for your tremendous support for our Family Night event last Wednesday featuring Erik Weihenmayer. It was an inspiring presentation for all who attended. We look forward to more of these evenings in the future.

Our third-, fourth-, and fifth-grade students will be off to the Independent School Spelling Bee hosted by St. Mary’s Catholic School on March 3. The following students will represent Darlington School: Third grade – Molly Brewer, Brady Drummond and Grace Watters; Fourth grade – Travis Black, Andy Brunt and Bailey Kozlowski; Fifth grade – Logan Kozlowski, Pierce Monroe and Abby Sklar. Harsh Patel will serve as an alternate.  Mrs. Kinney will be one of the judges and will accompany the students to the competition.

Darlington School’s Fine Arts Department will be presenting Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” this weekend at the Rome City Auditorium. Please do not delay in purchasing your tickets. This is always a wonderful evening for Darlington to showcase our very talented students. Reserved tickets may be obtained online at www.darlingtonschool.org/musical for $15. General admission tickets may also be purchased at the door or at the Lower School.

Spring photos will be taken on Tuesday, Feb. 22, starting at 8:30 a.m. All students will be photographed. It is a “dress up” day. The purchase of the photos is optional.

Our Admission Office has been busy this week with many visitors and phone calls for the upcoming school year. Thank you to all parents for your referrals and continued support. Re-enrollment contracts are being mailed out this week.

Tickets are on sale for our Third- and Fourth-Grade Sock Hop, which will take place Friday, Feb. 25, in our gym from 3:10 until 4:45 p.m. The cost of the ticket is $2, which covers the DJ and refreshments. We look forward to a fun afternoon for our students.
