From the Desk of the Lower School Director - 16
By Steve Bartholomew - FF/S
Thank you for your generous support of the Toys for Tots program, which took place last Friday. This has been a long-standing tradition at the Lower School. The local Marine Corps appreciate our participation in this yearly event.
Wendy Shaw and Holly Shadday have done a terrific job in preparing the Angel Tree Project. We would like to thank both of these moms who worked diligently over the Thanksgiving break in getting the ornaments ready. They are true examples of responding to our community in a time of need. The students are learning about charity this month as part of our Character Education Program.
Please remember that all gifts are due back on Tuesday, Dec. 14. This gives our volunteers an opportunity to package the gifts for easy distribution to the families at McHenry Primary School. As always, we thank you for your generosity and support of this worthwhile program.
We cordially invite our families to our annual Christmas Feast to be held on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Sage Dining does an excellent job in making this lunch very festive for our students and their families. Tickets may be purchased from Suzanne in the front office. Tickets are $4 each and must be purchased by Friday, Dec. 10.
Please note that the PK, K and Pre-First Christmas Program is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the gym. This will be the only performance. Students are asked to wear holiday attire. The Christmas Program for grades 1-4 is on Thursday evening, Dec. 16, at 7 p.m. Students are asked to wear winter attire (jackets, scarves, mittens, etc.)
The school-wide Christmas Party will be held on Friday, Dec. 17. It’s a Tiger Day, but students are encouraged to wear holiday colors.
School will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 4. Teachers and staff will be working on Monday, Jan. 3, since it is an all-school in-service day.
Our admission season is well underway for the 2011-12 school year. Please let Lea Duncan know if you know any families who are interested in visiting our school. You may call her at 706-802-4378 or stop by the office to drop off contact information. We thank our parents for past, present and future support in helping Darlington School reach our enrollment goal.
