Fourth grade uses the Web for classes

The three of the fourth grade science classes have used the web for several lessons related to their studies on the oceans, sound and light, and space. The students used educational sites for research, printouts, games, and data. Also, the social studies class uses an educational site to help them learn the states' locations and the capitals.
Students were excited Thursday when they logged on to enchantedlearning.com and were able to type in their age and weight and find what their weights and age would be on the sun and other planets. They daily use funbrain.com to answer the word of the day and the analogy of the day. This web site also has numerous games for math, spelling, grammar, science, and comprehension drill. “The fourth graders really enjoy using the computer, and they have to sign up and take turns in the classroom,” said Lola Bradshaw, fourth grade math and science teacher. “We will continue to use these educational sites for our lessons and when students begin their annual science project and research paper on a topic related to space, I feel sure they will be returning to these sites for information.”
Several of the Lower School teachers attended the In Tech class this past summer and several times during the fall. “It was very informative, and we learned so much that we can use with our students in the classroom,” said Bradshaw
