The entire fourth-grade class traveled to Cartersville, Ga. to visit the William Weinman Mineral Museum, on May 25. According to fourth-grade science teacher Lola Bradshaw, the students toured the museum and participated in several fun activities, including a scavenger hunt for minerals, a trip to the gift shop, digging for fossils, and panning for gold. Parents joined the students on the trip, and the grade mothers provided dessert and drinks for a picnic lunch under the museum’s pavilion.
The event, which was the class’ end-of-year field trip and picnic, concluded a study of rocks, minerals, and fossils that is part of the fourth-grade curriculum.
