Fourth grade presents “It’s a Jungle Out There”

Fourth graders took the stage Thursday, Oct. 28, with their production of “It’s a Jungle Out There,” a musical by Mary Donnelly and George Strid.
“The king of the jungle (played by Megan Healy) has more riches and more power than any other animal and still isn’t happy, so he sends his pages, Garrett Fricks and Allie Healy, on a quest to search for happiness,” said Diane Lumpkin, assistant principal and director of the play.
On their journey to discover the secret to a gleeful existence, the pages meet cheetahs (Alex Berry, Baxter McWhorter, Jordan Muschamp, Dillon Weeks, Jason Mauer, Sahil Patel, Camille Temples, Kortni Smallwood, Heather Peace and Sydney Greene), monkeys (Sam Mathis, Harris Burton, Vikram Singh, John Robert McKemie, Asa Crawford, David Grindstaff and Breck Tillery), hyenas (Alex Cox, Cameron Rohani, Allie Duckword, Ashley Pihl, Samantha Ortega and Shelby Martin) and elephants (Eden Mars, Cate Reese, Mary Grace Davis, Morgan Pollard, Bailey Brock, Sidney Stout, Chris Hubbard, O’Keefe Johnson and Emma Robinson).
“The secret of true pleasure is revealed by the elephants who understood how to stop and smell the roses and appreciate the things around you that are important,” said Lumpkin.
Each grade will present a play during the year. The schedule of other productions is as follows: fifth grade, Dec. 14 (Tiger Hall, 1 p.m.) and Dec. 15 (Morris Chapel, 10:40 a.m.); third grade, Feb. 10 (Tiger Hall, 1 p.m.); kindergarten/pre-first, March 29 (Tiger Hall, 1 p.m.) and March 30 (Morris Chapel, 10:40 a.m.); and pre-kindergarten, April 26 (Tiger Hall, 10:40 a.m.)
