Four named to All-Area Wrestling Team

Four Darlington students were named to the Rome News-Tribune's 2006 All-Area Wrestling Team: Trey Edwards, Jake Hussein, Luke Hyder and Korey Pitts.
Edwards is the son of Cathy Edwards of Rome and Garvin Edwards, also of Rome. He finished 41-10 and placed first in the Oolteway and area tournaments and second in the Brett Warren Invitational. A senior, Edwards went on to finish fifth in the state.
Hussein is the son of Hashim and Suha Hussein of Saudi Arabia. He was the area's only state champion in the lower weight divisions. A senior, Hussein finished 46-3 and was second at the Ooltewah and Rockmart tournaments and first in the area and the Brett Warren Invitational.
Hyder is the son of Tony and Michille Hyder of Cave Spring, Ga. Named Rome News-Tribune Wrestler of the Year for 2006, he is the area's only undefeated state champion (171-pound class). A senior, Hyder finished his season 49-0.
Pitts is the son of John and Staci Pitts of Silver Creek, Ga. He finished second in the state in Class AA, and had a season record of 42-7. Pitts, a sophomore, finished second at the Ooltewah, Brett Warren, Rockmart and Area tournaments.
All-Area Wrestling Honorable Mentions included sophomore Michael Cosgrove of Powder Springs, Ga., and senior Grant Harbin of Rome.
