Four named to All-Area Track Team

Four members of the varsity track and field team have received Rome News-Tribune All-Area honors.
Jesse Baker was a region champ in the 1,600 and 3,200. The rising junior finished sixth and fifth, respectively, in the events at state. Jesse is the son of Patty and Phil Baker of Rome.
Darlene Chikezie was sixth at state in the triple jump. The rising junior was also on the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams, which were both state-placers. Darlene is the daughter of Ruby Nnadi of Jonesboro, Ga.
Ansley McDurmon was region champ in the 1,600 and 3,200 and then placed eighth and sixth in the events at state. A rising junior, she is the daughter of Heather and Kelly McDurmon of Rome.
Anna Swafford finished third in state in the 300 hurdles and fourth in the 100 hurdles. She won region titles in both events. The rising senior is the daughter of Pam and Keith Swafford of Dallas, Ga.
Paige Banks, Ivy Duggan, Christopher Griffin, Caroline Kipp, Nigel Matthews, Mariss McKoy, Tiffany Perry, Marshall Rawson, Alex Sentell and A.J. White received Honorable Mentions.
