Football team remains undefeated

Darlington’s varsity football team is having a strong season with no losses as of yet. The team is currently 7-0 and first place in region 6 AA. State Play-offs begin Nov. 23.
The AP ranked the Tigers fourth in the state in class AA. The team beat Bowden 23-0, Armuchee 34-14, Model 38-14, Dade County 20-0, Coosa 41-7, and Rockmart 17-6. The game scheduled for Sept. 14 against Chapel Hill was cancelled, but rescheduled for Nov. 16.
The leading rusher for the Tigers is senior Ben Summerall with 945 yards for an average of 6.06 yards per carry. The leading tackler on defense is sophomore Drew Nichols with 79 tackles, three fumble recoveries and one interception.
“We play Cartersville this Friday night in a game that could very well determine the region champion,” Tommy Atha, varsity football assistant coach, said. “We have also clinched a spot in the state playoffs for the sixth straight year.”
