Five named to All-Area First Team for baseball

Five varsity baseball players have been named to the Rome News-Tribune All-Area First Team.
Brad Butler, a rising senior, batted .358 with 33 hits, including seven doubles, three triples and 13 RBIs. He also scored 24 runs for the Tigers, who advanced to the Class A state playoffs. He is the son of Lisa and Rhett Butler of Rome.
Burton Dulaney, a rising sophomore, posted seven wins with a 2.23 ERA. He had 43 strikeouts and only 11 walks in 53 innings. He also batted .350 with seven RBIs. He is the son of Allyson and Barry Dulaney of Rome.
Cole Miller ('12) batted .342 with 24 hits, including two homers, seven doubles, one triple and 15 RBIs. He also drew 34 walks, scored 20 runs and had 11 stolen bases for the Tigers. He is the son of Lynda and Doug Miller of Cave Spring, Ga.
Alec Redden, a rising senior, hit .329 with 26 hits, including seven doubles and four homers. He drove in 30 runs, drew 18 walks and had 12 stolen bases. He is the son of Leah and Keith Redden of Cedartown, Ga.
Oren Wilson ('12) batted .368 with 21 hits, including five doubles and three homers. He drove in 19 runs and scored 14. On the mound, he won six games with a .314 ERA. He is the son of Anne Paige and Scott Wilson of Rome.
Additionally, rising senior Logan Rice of Rome was named to the All-Area Second Team. His classmate David Grindstaff of Cedartown, Ga., earned an Honorable Mention.
