Five featured in RACA exhibit

The artwork of five Upper School students is currently being featured in the 11th Congressional District High School Art Competition hosted by Rome Area Council for the Arts in downtown Rome. RACA will host a reception tonight at 6 p.m. for all participants and their teachers.
Yena Ahn’s “Mirrors,” MacKenzie Sidwell’s “Lighthouse,” Morgan Myers’ “London Eye,” Natalie Brumbaugh’s “Chess Players” and Kelly O’Mara’s “Bees” are among the featured works.
A panel of judges will select three region winners who will receive scholarships from the Art Institute of Atlanta and the Savannah College of Art and Design. The first-place winner will also receive an invitation to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Cannon Tunnel display in June 2007.
This unique competition allows high school students with artistic talents the opportunity to display their work in Washington in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capital. Since 1982, nearly 5,000 local contests involving more than 650,000 students have participated in this competition. Winning entries from each district-wide contest are currently on display in the Cannon Tunnel in Washington. The display is a testament to the extraordinary talents of our nation’s youth.
