Under water and underway is the new ASA (after-school activity), water polo. Fifteen Upper School students have been learning the rules of the game under the coaching of Joe Pieroni. “It’s a cross between hockey, soccer, and basketball,” Pieroni said. “Water polo is very popular in California and the northeast.” Darlington is one of the first schools in the area to try their hands at the sport. The key word is, “hands”. Only goalies can use both hands during the game.

Pieroni hopes that water polo will be offered as a sport within the next couple of years. The fall season team would need 15 players, with the major requirement being that the person be a strong swimmer.
