Fifth grade presents Darlington’s own consumer report

The fifth grade’s annual Science Fair, presented in late April, represented the culmination of several weeks’ of work by students. They had chosen a problem that would have measurable results, formulated a hypothesis, and gathered materials.

Then they began their procedure. They documented their results and conclusion and turned in written reports covering what they had done. They also designed a triptych to display their information.

Students discovered useful consumer information, such as which gum’s flavor lasted the longest, which bathroom cleaner worked best, which diaper held the most water, which popcorn popped the most kernels, what cleaned pennies the best, and what type of vinegar made the best (or worst, depending on your point of view) volcanic eruption when added to baking soda.
