Faculty members receive awards

Several faculty members were honored at the annual Faculty Appreciation Dinner, Thursday, May 8, at the A.J. Huffman ’67 Memorial Athletic Center. The recipients of the prestigious Brown Awards are Barbara Barfield, Rusty Jordan ’63, and Bob McGraw. Mr. and Mrs. James Douglas Brown established the award, which includes a monetary gift, in memory of their son James Douglas Brown Jr. ’65. Brown wished to reward the faculty members “for their kindness and for their influence” and to honor faculty members who promote positive leadership within the Darlington community.
Middle School faculty member Ken Wempe was given the George W. Awsumb Faculty Award.
Faculty members recognized for their years of service include: five years: Shari Cannon, Laure Clemons, Peree Collier, Julia Dodd, Debbie Galloway, Ann Glass, Jenni Glover; 10 Years Tommy Atha, Steve Hall; 20 Years: Nancy Gray, Skip Saunders, Terri Watters; 25 Years: Lola Bradshaw, David Rhodes, Sarah Woodfin; 30 Years: LaVance Atkins, Reatha Carroll, Bob Rogers; and 35 Years: Carl Paxton, Jim Van Es.
