Erwin reaches 1,000-point career milestone

Recently, Meggie Beth Erwin achieved an impressive 1,000 points in basketball. Meggie Beth began playing at the age of five with her two older brothers, Spence and Henry. She then began playing basketball through the local recreational department every year until she began attending Darlington’s Middle School. “Reaching 1,000 points is a wonderful accomplishment for Meggie Beth. Not many players reach this milestone in their careers,” Angie Milford, head coach for the varsity girls team, said.
She has worked hard in her four years and is having a record-setting senior season. Erwin’s game high is 30 points this season, and she broke her own record of 10 blocks in a game with 11 against Adairsville in December. She is averaging 18 points a game and more than 10 rebounds per game.
Right now, Erwin is keeping her options open for the future and concentrating on the season as a team player. “Personally, this is an accomplishment that I am proud of, but overall, most of these points could not have been made without the assists and support of the team,” Erwin said.
