Eighth grader travels to State Spelling Bee competition

Jeffrey Porter, eighth grade, emerged the winner of the district Spelling Bee competition held at The Walker School in Marietta, Ga., on Feb. 12. He now goes on to compete in the State competition for independent schools on Feb. 27 in Macon, Ga. Both eighth grader Claire Davis and he won Round III of Darlington’s Middle School Spelling Bees.

If Porter wins the State competition, he will represent Georgia independent schools in Washington, D.C. in the National Spelling Bee this spring.
