Eagle scouts soar at Darlington

In the past years, Darlington School has had close ties with Rome’s Boy Scout troops. Currently, there are 21 Eagle scouts at Darlington, including the three most recent Eagles, eighth-graders Peter Hjort, Clark McGehee, and Wil Tucker.
The Boy Scouts of America boasts that the hard-earned rank of Eagle scout is only awarded to two percent of all scouts, leaving a 98 percent dropout rate. Andy Davis, a Scoutmaster of 16 years in troop 113 and Darlington parent, estimates that it takes on average three and a half to four years to reach the Eagle rank. This year, Darlington will graduate at least six of its Eagles.
