Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Brittni Dulaney the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for August.

Dulaney, who is ranked No. 6 in her class of 135, has a GPA of 97.93 and an SAT score of 1340. In her four years at the Upper School, she has earned nine honors and seven AP credits.

While at Darlington, Dulaney has received the Everett E. Porter Award and the Dartmouth College Book Award, been a member of National Honor Society, and represented the School at a National Youth Leadership Conference. Dulaney has also made time for several extracurricular activities, including the House Senate, Honor Council, Student Support Team, Presidential Transition Committee, Ladies Chorale, FCA, Y-Cabinet (of which she is co-vice president this year), basketball, softball and lacrosse. She is a three-year letterman in each sport, and in lacrosse, she was named most valuable player for two consecutive years, was nominated to the All-State Team, and was named Academic All-American.

“Brittni Dulaney is a scholar, an athlete, a ctiizen, a friend and a leader,” said Jim Linos, Upper School Spanish teacher. “She is the go-getter that every enterprise desires … the learned student every teacher wants in his or her class … the player whom, when the game is on the line, every coach wants to have the ball … She is a humble leader to whom everyone turns in moments of crisis, large or small … I know my world is a better place with Brittni in it; and I believe this is true for everyone who knows her, even in passing.”

Dulaney will be honored at a luncheon Monday, Aug. 29. She is the daughter of Brian (’79) and Theresa Dulaney of Rome, Ga.
