Dot Womack Embodies School Motto: Service beyond Self

Lower School secretary Dot Womack is “an invaluable asset and reliable friend to us all,” says Lea Duncan, Lower School assistant director of admission. “The Lower School would not function as it does without her.”
Womack is an indispensable asset to the teachers who count on her for supplies, letters, reports, and laminator and copy machine operation.
Principal Mark Tayloe relies on Womack for her intimate knowledge of the details of keeping the Lower School going.
And Lea Duncan depends on her for all of the admission tasks her office completes—letters, informational packets, invitations, up-to-date statistics, names and ages of children, and computer generated mail-outs—and needs her especially for her “peace of mind.”
For 16 years, Womack has been part of the Darlington community. Beginning part-time as a secretary in the administration building, she soon moved to the Lower School where she has worked for 15 years. For the past decade, Womack has assisted with Lower School admission, but her role does not end there. Because of her years of devoted service, most people at the Lower School have nick-named her the go-to lady: she has the answers.
“What I love most about Dot is her ready smile, willing spirit, and constant upbeat attitude. She may talk softly, but her message is loud and clear: Enjoy your work and give it your best,” said retired Lower School Principal Larry Muschamp.
When her school day ends, Womack stays busy with family and civic duties. She volunteers with every local and national election and works with the voting polls in Cedartown, where she lives with her husband, Gestan. They have two sons who graduated from Darlington, Michael ’88 and Randall ’91, and two grandchildren.
“Dot Womack truly embodies our motto: Service beyond self,” Duncan said.
