Division Witnesses Admirable Rivalry

The Tiger varsity football team completed an impressive first-year season in 6AA competition with a 7 - 5 record including a chance at the playoffs. “This team responded well to all the challenges. We lost two games by two points and lost the playoff game to Northgate by one point,” Head Coach Jerry Sharp explained. “Northgate advanced to the third round at the state level. This speaks well of our team.”
Some of the Tigers’ challenges this season included a very young team with only 10 returning seniors, three offensive starters and 2 defensive. “We had strong leadership in (seniors) Scott Foss, Stiles Knight, Ben Puckett, and Ryan Fox,” Sharp said. “This team improved with each game. They matured with their experience. Players were willing to work hard, stay late, and play hard. I’m certain that the entire Darlington community is proud of them.”
Rome News Tribune recognized football athletic achievements and named the following players to the all-area football team: Foss, Knight, and Stephen Whatley.
