Megan Bevill, Darlington’s sole diver, qualified for the state diving meet at the Cobb County Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 27. Points needed to qualify were 270 and she scored a very healthy 340. Bevill will compete at the state level at Westminster, Feb. 16-17, in Atlanta.

Bevill has shown an incredible amount of determination in her desire to compete. Construction of the new athletic center prevented swimmers and divers from practicing at a convenient location on campus. Bevill, who resides in Cartersville, Ga., trains with the Metro Atlanta Divers in Marietta, Ga. This is a collection of athletes of all ages, from a number of schools in the Atlanta area who learn under the direction of Bill Humber, Georgia Tech’s diving coach.

Megan practices 1-meter and 3-meter dives with Humber and the group three to four times a week.
