Darlington parents have an opportunity to nominate a distinguished member of faculty who has worked at Darlington for at least five years to receive this year’s Parents’ Choice Award. The Parents Association has set March 15 as the deadline to receive nominations by Darlington parents and alumni for candidates to consider for this award, now in its third year.

The honor is a cash bonus awarded to a member of the Upper or Middle School faculty – teaching, coaching, and residential life, or administrative staff – who has shown significant commitment to the School, its mission and students. The award recipient is someone who possesses great skill and leadership ability as well as a commitment to the Darlington Motto: Wisdom More than Knowledge; Service Beyond Self; and Honor Above Everything. The recipient is a faithful member of the Darlington community who epitomizes its cooperative spirit.

The Parents Association urges parents and alumni to submit a nomination in the form of a letter explaining why you want to nominate this person. The letters will then be read by the Executive Committee of the Parents Association and a winner will be selected. The award will be given during Faculty Appreciation Week.

Letters of nomination may be mailed to Darlington Parents Association, ATTN: M.J. Bevill, 1014 Cave Spring Road, Rome, GA 30161, or e-mailed to bevillmj@aol.com.

The first Parents’ Choice Award recipient was Diane Ogletree, Middle School secretary, in 2002. Bill King, instrumental music director, was the 2003 award recipient.
