A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.

Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.

In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Mary Mac Pittman, a 12-year day student from Rome who serves as president of the Honor Council.

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Community, honor, opportunity

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?
“22” by Taylor Swift

What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Gilmore Girls”

What house are you a member of?
Regester House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Lacrosse, theater, Orchestra, Honor Council and “Y” Cabinet

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Smyly because she is always there for me on and off the field. She gives the best advice and makes me better not only as a player but as a person.

If you’re involved in the arts, what’s your favorite activity and why?
Orchestra because Mrs. Camp is the absolute sweetest and it is hard not to enjoy her class.

What's your favorite place on campus and why?
I like the Lakeside, especially during the fall when the trees change colors.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Shorey is definitely one of my favorites. This is my first year having him, and his class is difficult but so fun. He is probably the kindest teacher on campus and genuinely cares about you. He always makes us laugh in class and pushes us to be the best version of ourselves.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?
The diversity.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
RUMPUS weekend for sure. It's probably the best part of the year and really shows the community aspect of Darlington as we all get together to cheer on our house.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
I am definitely more outgoing than I was as an elementary student. I am much better at sharing my thoughts and ideas. My teachers and peers constantly encouraged me and gave me confidence I didn't have before, and that has been a huge point of growth for me.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?
I want to go to Georgia Tech, and my dream job is to be an architect and design multi-million dollar houses.
