Day #SeniorSpotlight: Grace Ann Lundy

In this #SeniorSpotlight, get to know Grace Ann Lundy, a nine-year day student from Cedartown, Ga., who loves cheerleading and singing. 

When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Honor, compassion, kindness    

When you think of high school, what song comes to mind?     
“Don't Stop Believin'” by Journey    

What's your favorite show to binge watch?     
“Designated Survivor”

What house are you a member of?     
Regester House

What are you involved in at Darlington?
Cheerleading captain, swim, theater, social chair of Concert Choir, co-president of The Darlingtones, Honor Council, “Y” Cabinet and Tiger Expert

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?    
Melissa Smyly was my varsity cheer coach and she was my favorite because she pushed us to be the best we could be and has always been there for us when we need anything at all. Mrs. Smyly is a coach who really cares about her athletes and I'm so grateful that I got to cheer for her.    

If you are involved in fine arts, what is your favorite activity and why?    
I'm involved in both theater and choir, but my favorite is choir because I've always loved to sing and the people in the Concert Choir class make us all feel like a family.    

What's your favorite place on campus and why?    
My favorite place on campus is the hallway right outside of the Zelle Black Box Theatre because it's where me and my friends have always hung out since freshman year.

Who's your favorite teacher and why?  
My favorite teacher is Mrs. King because she was so focused on making sure that we understood the material. I really liked her style of teaching because it touched on all types of teaching: notes, activities, and study guides. She truly cares how her students are all doing in her class and if there is anything that she can do to help, she will do it. Some words to describe Mrs. King are kind, welcoming and compassionate. Mrs. King creates a safe space in her classroom and I always looked forward to her class.

What's your favorite thing about Darlington?    
My favorite thing about Darlington is how safe I feel when I'm on campus. I have never had to worry about bullying, stealing or anything else like that because I trust my school to take care of me.

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.     
Getting to meet people from all around the world. Having the opportunity to socialize and learn with other students from different countries has allowed me to see the world through their eyes and has been an amazing opportunity that Darlington has given me.

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?     
Since coming to Darlington, I have learned the value of hard work, discipline and honor.

Where do you want to go to college and what is your dream job?    
I would like to attend Jacksonville State University and my dream job is to be a lawyer.
