Day #SeniorSpotlight: Christa Jackson

Let’s get to know Christa Jackson, a four-year day student from Rome who serves as captain of the sideline cheerleading squad and wants to be a high school math teacher.
                                        
When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?    
Community, honor, wisdom

What song reminds you of high school? 
"Don’t Blink” by Kenney Chesney    

What's your favorite show to binge watch?     
“Friends”    

What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?     
Longhorn

What house are you a member of?     
Cooper

What are you involved in? 
Sideline cheerleading captain, Student Activities Committee, Tiger Tutors, Advancement Ambassadors, Spanish Club    

If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?    
My favorite coach is Ms. Cline because not only is she my aunt, but she is also the reason I tried out for sideline cheer my freshman year. I don’t know what my time at Darlington would’ve been like if I hadn’t cheered.        

What's your favorite place on campus and why?    
My favorite place on campus is definitely Ms. Shores' room. I like to hang out in there with my friends during office hours to work on homework, study for tests, or just talk.             

Who's your favorite teacher and why? 
Some of my favorite teachers are Ms. Shores, Mr. Hudson, Mr. Shorey and Mr. Bourg. These teachers make class interesting and engaging while also teaching us the material. They are also just fun to talk to.     

What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?    
My favorite thing about Darlington is all the free time we have during the school day. I love how free periods give us time to finish up school work during the day and even leave early or go out to lunch.     

Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.     
RUMPUS is so fun and something that is so unique to Darlington. It seems crazy to people from other schools, but getting to compete against the other houses in Trivia and Lip Sync and supporting my house in Gauntlet, Fear Factor, and Dodgeball is one of the highlights of my time at Darlington.     

What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?    
Since I’ve been in high school, I’ve become more outgoing and social through things I’ve participated in while at Darlington. Being a part of cheer has especially helped pull me out of my shell, which allowed me to become more of a leader.    

What is your dream job?
I want to be a high school math teacher.
