Day #SeniorSpotlight: Brock Ferguson
By Maddie Chastain - Faculty
A Darlington student is made up of many things. None of which is average. We help our students develop their interests, passions and pursuits, because we believe every individual has something to contribute. We also believe that only when you're 100% you, are you 100% Darlington.
Here at Darlington, every student’s path is different. We think that's a good thing.
Let’s get to know Brock Ferguson, a five-year day student from Rome, a cross country standout who was recently named All-Area High School Boys Runner of the Year.
When you think of Darlington, what three words come to mind first?
Summerbell, Running, 2k
What song reminds you of high school?
"Bye Bye Bye” because we used it in Lip Sync this year.
What's your favorite show to binge watch?
“Friends”
What's your favorite restaurant in Rome?
Longhorn
What house are you a member of?
Summerbell
What are you involved in?
I am a day leader in Summerbell house, I run cross country and track, and I am on the Student Activities Committee.
If you play sports, who is your favorite coach and why?
Coach Evans because he has been the coach who has pushed me the most to get where I am today.
What's your favorite place on campus and why?
The Student Center because it is the place I can hang out with my friends whenever I have free time.
Who's your favorite teacher and why?
Mr. Enderle. Even though he is no longer a teacher here, I had him for three years and he was always there to help whenever I needed it.
What’s your favorite thing about Darlington?
The people I have been able to meet and the opportunities I have had with athletics, college, and academics.
Describe an experience that you've had at Darlington that you couldn't have had anywhere else.
The experiences I have had on the cross country and track are irreplaceable. The people I have met and the training has made me such a better person.
What are some of the ways you've grown since you first came to Darlington?
When I came to Darlington, I was not very good at any sports. Since coming here, I have become one of the best cross country and track athletes. This has led me to the next level, as I will be running in college.
What is your dream job?
I want to do something with a degree in Kinesiology and maybe get into coaching in the future.
If you have already committed to a college, please let us know which one you will be attending.
