Davis named October Student of the Month

Outstanding academic achievement has won senior Hunter Davis the honor of being named Noon Optimist Student of the Month for October.

Davis, who has attended Darlington School since pre-K, currently ranks thirteenth in the class of 122. Over his high school career, he has taken 15 AP and Honors courses.

"Faculty and students alike appreciate Hunter for his respectfulness and friendliness," said Ivy Brewer, associate dean of college guidance. "He masterfully balances his in and out of class commitments, devoting himself completely to his studies as well as his leadership positions."

Davis currently holds the office of president of the Honor Council, where he is known as the "voice of reason who brings clarity to what is often a complex situation." Within the Honor Council, he is admired for a sense of discernment and fairness. His varsity basketball coaches use words like "dedicated" and "loyal" to describe his relationship with his team. In addition to the many accolades he has garnered at Darlington, he has also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.

The son of Janice and Andy Davis, Hunter was honored at an Optimist Club luncheon on Oct. 25.
