By Liz Overberg - FF/S
We are so excited to announce that....
In the interest of promoting reading for pleasure and social reading, Darlington Library Services will offer a summer reading program called DarREADS to interested students from all three divisions of Darlington.
Students will have the opportunity to meet regularly with their division librarian and fellow classmates over the summer to discuss books in an informal small group setting. Each meeting will focus on a different book. Students are encouraged to attend every meeting, but it is not a requirement. Students will be responsible for purchasing or borrowing their own books.
DarREADS will charge a $10 per-meeting fee to each student, which should be paid by cash or check on the day of each meeting that the student attends. This fee will cover refreshments, supplies, and other program expenses. Checks should be made out to Darlington School.
Lower School DarREADS will meet weekly, and participants will do a craft each week in addition to discussing books. Please direct any questions to Lower School Librarian Ann Glass or second-grade teacher Jody Deaton.
Middle School DarREADS will be divided into two groups that will each meet weekly: DarREADS for rising 5th and 6th grade students and DarREADS for rising 7th and 8th grade students. Please direct any questions to Middle School Librarian Liz Koehler.
Upper School DarREADS will meet four times throughout the summer. Please direct any questions to Upper School Librarian Melinda Holmes.
