Darlington wins 6AA region literary meet

Forty-eight points placed Darlington first at the Region 6AA Literary Meet, March 14, at Floyd College. The following students participated, many earning distinction: Stephanie Hom, junior, first place, Girls Dramatic Interpretation; Brandon Goodman, sophomore, tied for second place, Boys Dramatic Interpretation; Katie Tumlin, junior, first place, Girls Solo; Russell Evans, senior, second place, Boys Solo; seniors Elyse Moody and Rachel Fronzak, and sophomore Lauren Bowling, first place, Trio; senior Russell Evans, juniors Andrew Gay and Paul Maxwell, and sophomore Jonathan Lane, first place, Quartet; Nasir Fakhri, sophomore, second place, Boys Spelling; Mary Katherine Harrison, senior, placed second, Girls Essay; William Krueger, senior, placed fourth, Boys Essay; and Jacob Cook competed in Boys Extemporaneous Speaking.

Dade County placed second with 35 points and Calhoun placed third with 32 points.

All our participants who placed first (Stephanie Hom, Katie Tumlin, and the students who competed in the Trio and Quartet divisions) will advance to the State Literary Competition at Houston County School, on March 22.
