Darlington to host SBSA Conference in March

Educational consultants and admission representatives from around the world will visit Darlington School March 15-17 for the Small Boarding School Association (SBSA) Annual Conference, hosted at the Upper School campus.
“We are very excited to bring the SBSA event to our campus this year,” said Stormy Johnson, associate director of admission at Darlington. “It will be a great opportunity to show our peers what Darlington and the City of Rome have to offer.”
According to the SBSA Web site, the conference will focus on the concerns and issues of small boarding schools; exchange perspectives and approaches to our work; provide substantive, high quality professional discussions; promote professional network connections; and create a positive sense of renewal and experience.
Darlington faculty members Ballard Betz, Dr. Mark Carleton, Greg Griffeth, James Milford and Casey Zimmer will participate in the conference as session hosts. Sessions will cover a wide range of topics from "Supporting Admission with Demographic Data to Program Integration that Unleashes Potential in Students." Keynote speakers will include Caroline Blackwell, director of multicultural affairs at University School of Nashville, and Sue Dowling of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
SBSA aims to promote professional dialog between small boarding school educators and educational consultants. Membership in the organization is limited to schools whose programs are year-round, accredited programs and have enrollment numbers around or below 200 total boarding students. Over 50 educational consultant companies and other professional organizations, such as IECA (Independent Educational Consultants Association), TABS (The Association of Boarding Schools), SSATB (Secondary School Admissions Test Board), Schoolyard (Web solutions for independent schools), and others comprise the remaining members of SBSA.
