Darlington to host annual Light the Lake event

The Darlington Community will walk hundreds of laps around Silver Lake on April 4 during Light the Lake, which is held in honor and memory of loved ones affected by cancer. Proceeds raised by this event will be split between Cancer Navigators and Summit Quest.
“This student-driven event is so successful because so many members of our community have been personally touched by cancer," said Reba Barnes, director of servant leadership. "This is a wonderful opportunity to honor and support them."
The event will kick off at 5 p.m. Throughout the evening, students, faculty, parents and friends will walk laps around the lake. After dinner, lanterns will be released onto the lake, which will be lined with hundreds of luminaries in honor and memory of friends and family. A Walk of Honor will follow at 8 p.m.
"We hope all of our families ELA-12 as well as area alumni and friends will come out and participate because we have a packed agenda with lots of fun activities and entertainment," Barnes said.

4:00 pm – Servant leaders check in at volunteer table
5:00 to 10:00 pm – Reflective laps around Silver Lake
Games with the Cooks on South Hall Lawn
Face painting, bubbles, origami, calligraphy
Tie dye (must bring your own T-shirt)
5:30 to 7:00 pm – Dinner in The Dining Hall
5:30 pm – Chris Holloway and Middle School Jazz Band perform on Wilcox Patio
5:45 pm – Gboyega, Abraham and Ian perform on Wilcox Patio
6:00 pm – Random Notes and Darlingtones perform on Wilcox Patio
6:15 pm - 3rd, 4th and 5th Grade Choirs perform on Wilcox Patio
7:00 pm – Balloon release
7:15 pm – Honors Chorus performs on Wilcox Patio
7:30 pm – Luminaries lit around Silver Lake
7:45 pm – Line up for Walk of Honor
