“You’re known by the people with whom you associate,” is one of those time-honored parenting axioms. It is also the philosophy beyond Darlington’s decision to sponsor national public radio (NPR) programs on WABE-FM 90.1 in Atlanta, and Georgia Public Radio throughout the rest of the state.

“NPR and Darlington are both organizations that seek to enrich lives through quality programs and education services, making us perfect partners,” Karen Rieley, director of communications and marketing said. “Plus sponsorship provides us a way to reach Georgia’s most discriminating audience, exactly the audience that will appreciate the excellent college preparatory education that we offer.”

The School is currently sponsoring one spot each weekday on either “Morning Edition” or “All Things Considered” national news shows and “Weekend Edition” on Saturdays and “A Prairie Home Companion” with Garrison Keillor on Sundays. The School’s sponsorship is recognized at some point during each show and encourages listeners to learn more about the School by visiting the Web site, www.darlingtonschool.org, or calling 1-800-36-tiger.

Darlington is also sponsoring Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” when it comes to Atlanta’s Fox Theatre on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 6 p.m. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster at 404-817-8700 or by walkup at the Fox Theatre box office. The Fox does not sell tickets over the phone and highly recommends arriving an hour before show time to pick up will-call tickets. Tickets go on sale March 22 and ticket prices range from $37 to $77. Seating charts are available on the Fox Web site at www.foxtheatre.org.

National Public Radio’s WABE 90.1-FM has exclusive premium tickets on sale for the live show before they are available to the general public. A pledge to WABE helps bring “A Prairie Home Companion” to Atlanta and supports WABE. In addition to premium tickets to the program, supporters will be given a Certificate of Appreciation and the opportunity to have their names listed in the Prairie Home Companion playbill. The cost through WABE is $600 for one pair of tickets and $1,200 for two pairs of tickets. More information is available at https://secure.ga3.org/03/phctix.
