Darlington names Krueger STAR student

Senior William Krueger has been selected as Darlington’s STAR student for 2002-03. Krueger’s academic accomplishments include National Merit Semi-Finalist, Morehead Scholar nominee, Furman Scholar, National Honor Society and Cum Laude Society member, and recipient of numerous Darlington academic awards. He participates in a wide variety of activities including Darlington Players, German Club, Video Yearbook, Jabberwokk (yearbook), Bridge Club, Math Team, Habitat for Humanity, and varsity football.
Krueger chose Craig Schmidt, history department chair, as his STAR teacher. Schmidt teaches Ancient World History, Ancient World History-Honors, AP European History, and AP U.S. History. He coaches Scholar Bowl and is Boys Varsity Soccer Head Coach, and a member of the Discipline Committee.
The Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program was established by the Professional Association of Georgia Educators, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Department of Education in order to reward student excellence in scholastics and to allow students to acknowledge the teacher most inspiring to them.
