Darlington math teams take first

First it was the team in the most recent invitational held at Berry College. Then, it was the geometry team in Division and the math team in State competitions. What it all adds up to is a very successful season for Darlington in math competitions.
The team of junior Brian Eberhard and seniors Drew Parker, Grant Muller, and Paul Maxwell placed first at the Berry invitational in early March. Parker won an award during that contest for the top score.
In late March, the geometry team, including freshmen Brett Henson, John Kagley, Hyundo Sung, Adam Diggs, and Norman Bonnyman, placed first in Division A-AA-AAA schools. Sung scored the highest on the geometry team and was awarded an individual trophy. Kagley and Henson scored high enough to win individual honorable mention trophies.
Most recently, the Darlington math team of Parker and juniors Davis Grizzard, Dennis Kim, Eberhard, and Nasir Fakhri placed first in the AA division of the GCTM State Mathematics Contest, held at Mercer University. “I was very proud of this team because there was only one senior,” Pat Waddell, math instructor, said. “We’ll have the four juniors back next year which will be a big help.”
About 40 students participate on the various math teams at DArlington. These students are recommended by their teachers and invited to join.
