Darlington hosts Sport Source event

Darlington School, in partnership with Arsenal Rome Soccer Club, is bringing The Sport Source® 16th Annual Soccer Showcase & Combine to Rome Dec. 15-17. This event is open to boys and girls Under-16 to Under-19 clubs, state and regional teams, as well as Olympic Development Program teams from across the United States, selected based on standing within their region, age and division.
“This is a way for players from across the nation to gather and develop their soccer skills, while participating in seminars, games, lectures and scouting activities with coaches from several schools in the Southeast,” said Chad Liddle, director of Darlington School Soccer Academy. “Our goal is for all the players involved with this event to have maximum exposure to the college coaches.”
Approximately 1,000 players on over 60 teams are expected to participate. Nearly 100 coaches will attend this year’s event. Over the three-day showcase, each team will play in three 80-minute exhibition games, allowing all players to perform without the pressure of winning a tournament.
“The Player Combine is a way that those participating in the showcase can be seen individually,” said Liddle. “It gives players whose team might not have been accepted into the showcase an opportunity to display their talents.”
Additionally, The Sport Source is pleased to announce that Jim Lennox, 20-year veteran of the U.S. Soccer National Staff and coach emeritus for NSCAA, will serve as technical director during the College Style Soccer Clinic on Dec. 15. Lennox authored the original curriculum for all NSCAA coaching courses and has been named Coach of the Year in NJCAA and NCAA Division I.
“Coach Lennox has always placed an emphasis on education and athletics to create a well-rounded player and person,” said Charlie Kadupski, founder and CEO of The Sport Source. “His commitment to youth in sports and education is unsurpassed. He has helped many current and former collegiate and professional athletes and coaches achieve excellence, and that includes me.”
Lennox said he is pleased to be a part of what Kadupski has created through The Sport Source. “The opportunity to continue empowering a new soccer generation is a passion for which everyone affiliated with soccer should strive,” he said. “The present generation of young soccer players will be the vehicle that impels U.S. soccer onto the world stage as a major soccer playing nation.”
