Darlington holds ribbon cutting for Learning Center

A special ribbon cutting was held Thursday, Sept. 7 at the new Learning Center on Darlington's Lower School campus.
Surrounded by members of Darlington's Board of Trustees, Atlanta residents Roby Robinson ('58), past board chairperson, and John Irby ('81), current board chairperson, joined Libbie Zimmer, director of the Learning Center, and Tom Whitworth, headmaster, at the event.
Through a Board challenge, money was generated to open a center at all three divisions - pre-K through 12th grades.
The center will provide learning strategies that allow students to be their best self-advocates; to know themselves as learners.
"You have to know yourself to advocate for yourself," said Dr. Bruce Watterson, chief communications officer. "This team of learning specialists will provide students just what they need to be successful in their academic endeavor here at Darlington School and beyond."
"It has been amazing to watch the momentum for the Learning Center building in the Darlington community. Most people have been very supportive because they know the outcome will be positive for all of our students," said Zimmer."
