Darlington falls for the arts

Since its inception in 1991, Darlington’s annual fine arts event has evolved from a one-day festival to a month-long celebration involving students at all three divisions. This year, Fall for the Arts culminated with Lower School Fine Arts Night and the annual Fall for the Arts Festival.
The Lower School event on Oct. 23 featured performances by third- and fourth-grade instrumental music students, including the String Project, as well as appearances by the Lower School Chorus and Orchestra. Student photography and art was also showcased.
The Fall for the Arts Festival on Oct. 26 featured student artwork displays, paint-it-yourself pottery, calligraphy lessons and a silent auction. Performing groups included the Lower School Chorus, the Middle School Chorus, the Concert Choir, the Random Notes, the Darlingtones, the Middle School Orchestra, Stadium Band, String Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Flute Choir, Brass Choir, Drum Line and piano soloists. Visitors could also attend a student production of “Steel Magnolias” in Zelle Drama Room.
