Darlington earns top-four United Way recognition

Darlington School named one of the top four most improved involved organizations by United Way this year. For the past 47 years, since the founding of United Way, Darlington faculty has been actively involved in fundraising efforts for this organization. “Last year 55 percent of Darlington faculty contributed to United Way and this year 75 percent did,” Diane Lumpkin, Lower School music and lead teacher and Darlington’s United Way campaign leader, said. “Our overall participation has gone up 133 percent.” Lumpkin believes that this is a proud and powerful statement of the School’s devotion to the community. “She did a brilliant job. Our hats and scarves are off to her,” said David Hicks, president.
