Darlington Connects: Jeffrey Drury-Stewart (’98)

We're excited to connect with our alumni through our new Darlington Connects series. Today we hear from Jeffrey Drury-Stewart (’98), a software engineer with Amazon.com. 

Jeffrey Drury-Stewart (’98) has been a senior software engineer at Amazon.com in Seattle, Wash., since May 2012.

"I primarily focus on web services; however, I am a full-stack engineer with experience across every software layer and most hardware layers," he said. 

Currently, Jeffrey is the technical lead for a team of 12 engineers who develop services for Amazon/Whole Foods integration. As such, he coordinates with teams inside and outside of Amazon, inside the United States, and internationally.

He has practical experience and expertise in Java, Python, Ruby, Javascript, C, C++, various shell scripting languages, AWS technologies, databases, and file formats. Academically, he focused on databases, software engineering principles, computer networking, computer security, and software algorithms. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology (2004).

"I owe my early programming experience and my interest in pursuing computer science in college to Rick Buice, a former teacher at Darlington, who formally introduced me to programming in the Upper School and who put up with my shenanigans on the school's computers and network with a significant amount of patience," said Jeffrey.
