Darlington certified as TOEFL and ACT test center

Darlington School has been certified as a TOEFL iBT (Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test) and ACT test center.
The TOEFL test is a college admission requirement for all non-native speakers of English. Darlington will offer the TOEFL on campus as a convenience to its international resident students who, in the past, have had to find transportation to other test centers, some as far away as Atlanta and Birmingham. Only Darlington students may register to take the TOEFL test on campus.
The ACT test is used in conjunction with the SAT for college admission purposes, though the two tests are completely different from one another. While the ACT test at Darlington is open to the public, it is the school's intention that its students will register early enough to secure the available seats for themselves.
"Students usually feel more relaxed when testing in a familiar environment, so we are pleased to provide this advantage to Darlington students," said Ivy Brewer, associate dean of college guidance.
Darlington will host both of the tests once each in the fall and in the spring. The new TOEFL and the ACT offerings are in addition to the SAT testing that Darlington conducts throughout the school year.
